Last night, I put a reminder on my phone, telling me to watch the entire video of President Obama and NYC Mayor, Zohran Mamdani reading and singing to a preschool class somewhere in New York. I had seen a few clips of it, and even sent some to my daughter to show to my grandson since they sang one of his favorite, absolute BANGERS, “The Wheels on the Bus.”

I didn’t schedule this viewing because I thought I’d learn anything from their video promoting free childcare initiatives. I did it because I’ve promised myself that I’d insert more joy in my life.

I’m sure that the manosphere lost their minds at two men reading and singing to children, but thankfully, I wouldn’t know. I’ve made some major strides at reducing the amount of time I spend doomscrolling. A quick Google search showed that a pretend journalist called it “cringe” and I’m sure that people lost their minds on the nonconsensual porn-generating site formerly known as Twitter. I’m blissfully ignorant of whatever dumbass comments people are spewing because I no longer subject myself to that hellscape. Plus, the internet isn’t a real place

So I watched the full video this morning, and I laughed so hard. My biggest takeaway is that these two would make TERRIBLE pre-K teachers. To be fair, most people would. Preschoolers basically say every thought that comes into their brains. They also move their bodies whenever their brains tell them to. If you don’t have a handle on your classroom management, you’re going on a journey into a 3-5-year-old’s brain that you likely can’t navigate.

Just trying to read the book, Alone and Together, was a bit of a struggle for the former President and current Mayor. Not because they struggle to read, but because they were unable to field the many interruptions coming from the kiddos. It was adorable, and I bellylaughed because I too struggle to corral kids under the age of twelve. The basic premise of the book is that when we’re alone, we can do cool things, but when we’re together, we can take those really cool things to the next level.

I’m sure some angry keyboard warriors slammed the book choice, claiming it promotes Communism or diversity or whatever they’re being told to be mad about this week, but I wouldn’t know because I’ve cut down the noise from these assholes.

I was talking to my son the other day, and he talked about how during his formative years, Obama was President. He said he knew that he wasn’t perfect, citing drone attacks and immigration enforcement, but at least he wasn’t so chaotic. My kid didn’t necessarily believe that his policies would overwhelmingly help him and working class people in super meaningful ways, but he sure as shit knew that Obama wouldn’t be actively working to make his life harder and worse.

From Day One of this regime’s reign, the entire focus has been on the Epstein Class and protecting them, their assets, and their reputations. Meanwhile, the Big, BeautifulPedophile Bill  ended up booting millions of people off of Medicaid, SNAP benefits, and their healthcare. Additionally, a bunch of bumbling idiots who can’t define DEI also cut over 300,000 federal jobs, ICE has more funding than all other branches of the armed forces combined, prices are up for…well…EVERYTHING, and now a war/not war/excursion/combat mission/butdefinitelynotwar in the Middle East has caused gas prices to skyrocket.

Can you even imagine the current president showing up to read to preschoolers?

After diving deep into the Trumpstein Files, I wouldn’t want him anywhere NEAR children. Recently, when speaking about the Iran war/not war/excursion/combat mission/butdefinitelynotwar, he said “we can’t take care of daycare” so he probably wouldn’t have accepted Mamdani’s invitation anyway, despite his CLEAR adoration of the man.

Imagine asserting “we can’t take care of daycare” when the US is spending an estimated one billion dollars a day for an illegal war/not war/excursion/combat mission/butdefinitelynotwar in the Middle East.

Millions of Americans are uninsured. In Arizona, an estimated 400,000 individuals, including 180,000 CHILDREN have been booted off of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP benefits, and there are currently 28 vacant homes for every one unhoused person in the United States.

On top of all of this, now this administration is mansplaining religion to the Pope, and Creep Kegsbreath is quoting from the book of Tarantino.

The Christian nationalists are lecturing the actual Christians about the validity of their god, and elected officials and “citizen journalists” use their platforms to vilify religions other than Christianity. Locally, the elected disciples of the Epstein Class are disparaging religions other than their own as well. Recently, someone shared with me the extreme Islamaphobic language coming from a local school board member in Peoria (PUSD).

Aside from not being able to spell, her assertions aren’t anywhere close to what is happening in America. Also, what is it with these people announcing every single one of their weird kinks by accusing everyone else of them? I don’t know many Christian nationalists who DON’T “get involved in politics” or force Christianity on their children. Board Member Bowles posts her absolute adoration about her “p*dof*le [SIC] prophet” on a VERY regular basis.

Honestly, I can’t imagine ANY of these MAGA electeds reading to children. I’ve seen them try to read their own notes in committee, and THAT alone is a struggle, but also, I would NOT feel safe if they came into my own grandson’s classroom. Not only do they support, promote, and revere pedophiles and sex criminals, but many are xenophobic and racist.

The preschoolers from yesterday’s event in NYC are a true representation of the diversity of America. Would someone who posts such vitriol treat the Muslim children in her district’s schools with respect? Would she try to convert non-Christian students? Do the Muslim families in her district know how she feels?

(If anyone wants to let your local school board members know how YOU feel, check out our handy school board spreadsheet that our fabulous intern is updating).

Even the book, Alone and Together, sent a message about diversity. Together, we flourish, build, imagine, and invent. We can be invincible when we join forces, and the other side has done a great job of convincing many people to fear their neighbors. Just take a gander at any MAGA elected official’s social media pages, and you’ll see that their world is very small. By design. Literally, like AI design.

The world would be a better place if children were both seen and heard. Recently, in the city of Surprise, a young woman is receiving threats from adults for advocating for her fellow students and exercising her First Amendment rights in her opposition to a concentration camp in Surprise. In Chandler, an off-duty Phoenix Police sergeant showed up to a student protest to try to bait them into violence (he failed and was exposed). At the legislature, a state legislator created a bill that would remove the mental health instruction requirement for public schools.

It’s pretty clear that the people who support the pedophiles who traffic, torture, and imprison children also support legislation that silences children, puts them in harm's way, and keeps them from learning accurate information about the world around them.

As a nation, we can absolutely pay for healthcare, public education, infrastructure projects, scientific research, emergency management, daycare, and so much more, but those in charge have chosen tax breaks for the billionaire Epstein class and a ballroombunker instead. And the Christian nationalist warriors who carry water for the pedophiles are perfect for the job since their patriarchal authoritarian Christian upbringing made them unquestioning simpletons.

Do I really believe that the majority of the PUSD board doesn’t care about the students’ mental health needs? No. But I know that the brainwashing they’ve undergone for much of their lives causes them to be susceptible to mis- and disinformation. Their poor reasoning skills, coupled with a steady stream of propaganda causes them to believe ridiculous nonsense like schools having litter boxes in classrooms or that they perform gender reassignment surgeries. Or that their religion is the only oNe TrUe ReLiGiOn.

The adults in charge so rarely consider the children that they are supposed to be advocating for, because when adults see children as property, they end up advocating against their best interests. The Trumpstein class knows this, and that is why they push Christian nationalism so that their followers push the children-as-property ideology through their policies and legislation.

So you know what to do, Secular FAM!

The Surprise City Council meeting is 4.22.2026. The PUSD meeting is happening 4.23.2026. Nearly every weekday in Arizona, a local governing body meets. Do a quick Google search, and plug yourself in. If you’re willing to commit to attending your local democratically elected governing body and provide updates, let us know!
